Welcome

Hello all and welcome to our blog. Feel free to post any useful resources, ideas, tips and "edgy stuff" that can help our young innovators come up with revolutionary ideas.

Just checking the blog infrastructure to see if it works. "Team Aewsome" is getting organized. I think we will be able to meet on time. This is a challenge for everyone.

One of the last things we did in Ithaca was to assign the students a 'letter' so that they could break into mixed grouops to discuss the ideas. However, I do not think we have a master list. Any suggestions?

Is there any way to have a blog posting alert so that we know when a comment is posted?

You can have a blog posting alert to let you know when a new comment has been posted. Log in, go to Customize (right hand side at the top), then click on Settings and follow the instructions.

Our "Voltron" check-in on Skype last night (4 of 6 of us) worked easily.

A question arose about whether the platform they are envisioning needs to focus primarily on "hard news" topics. I did't think so, but wanted to check in with you all.

Another question emerged about how the students can access the Web site that Jane mentioned in Ithaca (and was shooting video for). My understanding was that this Web site was for our own research purposes and for documenting the process back to the Knight Foundation. Clarifications?

We're looking at (in case you want to share with your students):

Political debates on YouTube:

Emerging features on Facebook:

Sam, is there a way to have the most recent comments posted at the top of the blog? Also, how does one create clickable links within our posts? (My apologies if I'm overlooking an easy step.)

My students have A-E assignments. How are we planning to have them connect up with each other the end of next week?

Thanks Marybeth for the Skype suggestion. Our AIM chat was all good except I kept getting kicked out for typing too fast. (sigh)so I am looking for an alternative.

Also, it looks like we can comment but not post -- Sam, did you set this up so we could each post on this (as opposed to comment). Call me confused and in need of more 'spresso!

Oh, and our group is the All-Knighters! Half Vegas and Half Knight Foundation. We're meeting again on Saturday and things seem on track ...
